Children in Worship

child serves as acolyte

Children are an important part of our faith family and are always welcome in worship.

Nursery. For folks who choose, we do have nursery available during worship for little ones from birth through age 3.

"Witness to the Children." During worship, children (and adults too) are invited to gather in the center of our worship space to hear a story or other lesson. Leadership of this worship component is shared by adults who are interested.

Godly Play.  From Labor Day to Memorial Day, following the "Witness to the Children" young ones from age 3 through first grade are invited to attend Godly Play, which is an interactive Bible story curriculum, held during the service.

Communion. Children are welcome to participate in and partake communion with us. We believe that communion may be a means of grace and that children value the experience of being included.

Children's Fellowship:From Labor Day to Memorial Day, following the "Witness to the Children" older children, grades 2 through 6, are invited downstairs to participate in a variety of activities. Children's Fellowship may include art or craft activities, games, a cooking project, or other fun ways to be in fellowship together.  On communion Sundays, children join their families upstairs near the end of worship to participate in communion. One Sunday a month, for important church celebrations or special events, children remain in worship.

Participation. We provide a children's bulletin with quiet activities each week during worship. Crayons and drawing paper are available, too.  We encourage children to participate in worship as acolytes. We look for ways to include children in worship through hand chimes, reading scripture, etc.
