Lent
Ash Wednesday to Easter
The season of Lent runs from Ash Wednesday until Easter. It is 40 days in length, though Sundays are not counted as part of the 40 days. Traditionally this season is a time of somber reflection, repentance and discipline. Dumbarton’s Worship Cluster works together to craft a Lenten theme and seasonal observances for Lent.
Holy Week
Palm Sunday to Easter is the busiest and most important week of the congregation’s worship life. During these few days we have worship services for Palm Sunday, Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, Saturday’s Easter Vigil and the Easter Sunday celebration. We also share a Seder meal in honor of Jesus’ Jewish roots on Holy Thursday. Each service connects the ancient stories of faith to our contemporary setting.
