Waiting for Jesus' Birth
The church season of Advent is comprised of the four weeks before Christmas. The themes of this season often focus on hope, preparation, and a longing for a better world. Advent calls us to a season of reflection and introspection, which may be in sharp contrast to the holiday festivity schedule that runs full out from Thanksgiving through New Year’s. Advent reminds us that our value lies not in what we buy or purchase or consume; instead our value lies in how we love one another and serve the common good.
December 25 through January 5 is the church season of Christmas, when we celebrate God’s love for the world revealed in the birth of Jesus of Nazareth. Dumbarton offers Christmas Eve service(s) on December 24 (Please check the worship schedule for specific times each year).
