Three Things I Like About Dumbarton UMC

--The time in the service when we prayerfully express our joys and concerns.

--The potluck community.

--The challenges that come to me from the pastor and congregation, that open my eyes to concerns I would otherwise be oblivious to, and the difference that makes in my life, be it GLBT issues, the plight of the Palestinians, the environment, immigration, or a host of other topics.

 --Joan Countryman

I love that Dumbarton:

•Continues to stand up for the rights of the marginalized, especially GLBT people,

• The incredible lay participation and leadership - it is unrivaled elsewhere, in my experience, and:

• How well DUMC keeps in touch with its "diaspora!"

  •    The welcoming fellowship
  •    The continuing challenge to be engaged in social justice

what i like about dumbartonThat everyone at Dumbarton is honestly and uniquely who they are - there are no pretensions or facades to pretend to be someone we are not

  • The social justice and liberation theology that forms the basis of all that Dumbarton does - and is preached about, deliberated on, and, most importantly, acted upon!
  • The joy on the faces of adults and the joy in the dancing of children when the congregation joins to sing "We are Called," a song that not only summarizes the mission of our community, but also of the call of God for us to work towards social justice; a call that Dumbarton seeks to fulfill.
