Education Cluster
Broadening the Mind
This cluster brings together the persons who plan for Christian education for all age levels, including adults. It ensures that as young people pass through successive years of the program, their knowledge of the Christian faith builds on what they have learned in earlier classes. Volunteer parishioners teach the children, but a youth minister is hired by the congregation to direct the youth program and Sunday morning class.
Adult Education Committee plans and coordinates opportunities for adult education. This often involves setting up discussion classes, selecting themes and readings, arranging for outside speakers if needed, and working with other committees that might want to use the time for education in their areas of interest.
Children's Education Committee provides Christian education for Dumbarton children and youth aged 2 to 12. The committee is responsible for finding teams of teachers for all the children, for providing training and development for those teachers, and for developing or providing curriculum for Sunday School and special programs.
