Visitors & New Members

Welcome!

Members of Dumbarton represent various religious and cultural backgrounds and lifestyles. We are young, old, and middle-aged; gay and straight; single, married, widowed, divorced, parents, grandparents, and assembled families.

Above all, we are people who take risks, make mistakes, confess, repent, and try again. At the center of our community is Jesus the Christ, whose life, death, and resurrection are at once the reason we are together and what we are about. The life and hope in this community has more to do with Christ's faithfulness to us than ours to Christ.

Whoever you are, whatever your history, your scars, your gifts you are among people like yourself. In Christ's name, we welcome you.

Participating in the Life of the Church

Service is held every Sunday morning at 11:00, except for summer when service is held at 10:00.  Attending worship service is at the heart of participating in the life of Dumbarton.  If you would like to be involved in the creation of and preparation for worship, we welcome you, your talents and gifts.

Prior to proceeding into the sanctuary on Palm Sunday, members of the congregation gathered on the church's steps.

There are also many activities that take place in additional to Sunday morning worship.  On most Wednesday evenings there are meetings or programs taking place in the social hall.  You are invited and welcome to attend these activities.

Joining the Church

There is an annual orientation and educational program to help people new to Dumbarton UMC to learn more about our congregation's structure, and our congregational and Methodist history.  New members customarily join the congregation at Easter.  For more information, please contact the pastor.

Youth joining the Dumbarton and the UMC are traditionally confirmed at our annual worship service during our retreat.
