Directions &
Accessibility "At that time the disciples came to Jesus and asked: "Who is
the greatest in the Kingdom of heaven?" He called a child and
said, "Truly I tell you, unless you change and become like children,
you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. Whoever becomes humble
like this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven. Whoever
welcomes one such child in my name welcomes me."

Children & Youth ProgramsChild CareChild care is provided during Sunday school and worship for children age 0 through 5. One or two paid child care providers are present from 9:00 to 12:30 every Sunday morning. The child care providers are supplemented by parents or teens as the need arises. Child care is also provided during Wednesday night worship and meetings, and other meetings if requested in advance. Contact the church office to make this request. Children's WorshipChildren's Worship is held downstairs three Sundays a month for children ages 6 to 12. Children in this age group typically stay with their parent(s) or guardian(s) during the Sunday worship service until after Children's Story, when the children and the Children's Worship leaders for that week go to the Social Hall downstairs. Children's EducationThe Children's Education Program consists primarily of Sunday morning classes. These are available for all children and youth from age 3 through high school from September through May. Younger children are in the Godly Play Program. Older elementary students participate in a wide variety of activities (and usually paint a classroom wall!). Confirmation classes, usually offered to eighth graders, run a full academic year. Starting in Fall, 2001, junior high and high school students will have an integrated youth program that includes regular Sunday morning sessions and evening and weekend activities led by our Youth Minister. All classes are taught by teams to distribute the effort -- and the joy -- of working with our children. Although classes are organized primarily around age/grade groups, care is taken to meet the needs of each child. Godly PlayThe Godly Play Program is for children aged 3 through third grade. During this time children learn Bible stories and respond to them through their own art work. Vacation Bible SchoolDumbarton's Vacation Bible School is held each summer during several evenings. usually on Wednesdays in July, each evening starts with dinner and singing for all ages. Children from 3 years through Sixth Grade participate in discussion and fun activities. Older children and youth are welcome to help and participate along with their younger friends, or attend an adult education program. Child care is provided for children under 3. In the closing circle at the end of the evening, people share what they learned or did during the program, and sing a farewell song. Youth ProgramThe Youth Program is for Seventh to Twelfth Graders. There is additional information on youth activities on their own page. Youth worship with the congregation in the sanctuary.
